New Delhi, 13 May 2025: Amazon Prime Video is changing its streaming model in India. Starting from June 17, 2025, the platform will introduce limited advertisements in Prime Video movies and TV shows.
Existing Prime Video Subscribers can opt for a new ad-free plan at an additional ₹699 per year or ₹129 per month. This add-on plan adds an ad-free experience, but live event content, such as sports and Amazon MX Player content, will continue to feature ads.

Amazon assures users that the number of ads will be fewer than those seen on traditional TV channels and other streaming services. The company states that this move will help sustain its investment in high-quality content while keeping subscription costs stable.
Regular Prime Video subscription pricing remains at ₹1,499 per year, ₹599 per quarter, and ₹299 per month. Additionally, Prime Lite subscribers, who pay ₹799 annually, will continue to access Prime Video’s full content library with ads.
This shift aligns with global trends, as streaming giants like Netflix and Disney+ have already introduced ad-supported tiers in various markets. Amazon first rolled out ads in the US, UK, Germany, and Canada in January 2024, later expanding to Australia, France, Mexico, and other regions.
